Almaty + astana Itinerary only

Day 1 Almaty: Transfer to the hotel.

      14:00 Meeting with the guide at the hotel lobby and start Almaty sightseeing  from  the visit Green Bazaar  to feel the city’s real taste, its atmosphere and local color

      Green Bazaar Visiting Green Bazaar is a little fascinating adventure. You could taste, take part or watch the cooking process, buy national delicacies.

 Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen. The official name from May the 5th, 1942, in memory of the heroes of Panfilov’s division and heroes Almatese, who stopped the offensive of enemy’s tanks in Moscow during the World War II.

  The Ascension Cathedral  It was built by an architect Andrei Zenkov, famous as a founder of earthquake-proof construction.

  Museum of national musical instruments. The collection presents over 1000 objects including rare exhibits dating back to the 17th century. There are in total 60 types of national instruments: kobyz, dombras, syldyrmak (tambourine like national instrument) as well other nations’ instruments.

      Continue Sightseeing in Almaty and visit :

 Central Mosque constructed in the Timurid style of architecture.  It looks ancient, with its Turkish calligraphy, domes and minarets, but was only completed in 1999 and  accommodating up to 7000 worshippers.

 Republic Square is the heart of Almaty, where the main festivities, events and demonstrations are held

 The Central State Museum of Kazakhstan is one of the oldest and largest museums of the Central Asia. First established in 1931, The museum houses the most significant collection of Kazakh historical, archaeological, and modern cultural and political artifacts.

      Lunch at local restaurant

      17:30 - Transfer to Medeu gorge, where you will have a brief stop on the huge Medeo dam, which protects the city from destructive mudflows formed on the tops of the western Tien Shan.

 Medeu - Shymbulak cable car (gondola, way up) Mountain ski resort Shymbulak- amazing views of the snow peaks and the Tien-Shan Mountains.

 The Ski Resort Shymbulak is located on a picturesque valley in the Zailiyskiy Alatau within the height 2260 m above sea level, 25 km from the center of Almaty.

      20.00 – Dinner at local restaurant

      After dinner transfer to the hotel.

Day 2 Almaty – Issyk lake – Turgen waterfall- Astana

      7.00 Breakfast in hotel. Check out.

      7.30 Meeting with guide

      Transfer to Issyk lake – (65 km)–Many archaeological monuments, barrows, burial grounds Golden Man were found here. Visit Issyk museum.

      Lunch in Issyk. After lunch departure to Turgen gorge (25 km) (Lunch box)

      Turgen Gorge in the Ili-Alatau National Park (90 km from Almaty) is an ideal place to enjoy the beauty of nature. The gorge has hot springs, a trout farm, waterfalls and thick forests. Rich in  coniferous and mixed trees, alpine and sub-alpine meadows, lakes and springs, medicinal herbs and berries, the gorge plunges 44 km into the vast Assy plateau (2,560m). Long ago, caravans from Europe and Asia passed through the “Royal Gates” on their way to China and India. The broad valley stretches east for 60 km.

      Drive back to city.

Day 3  Astana – city tour – Alzhir

      Arrival to Astana. Meeting with guide.

      Breakfast in local restaurant.

      Transfer to the hotel.

      Check in hotel.

      City tour starting from old part of the city on the right side of Ishim river. Constitution Square, Museum of the First President, Congress Hall will be starting points of excursion. You will walk along the riverside of Ishim and see the city in dynamics, and how it is developing.  And continue tour with the most important architectural buildings and monuments of the modern capital (Independence Square, Water-Green Boulevard, Round Square), as well as its history and development plans.

      Visit Presidential Centre of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. At the museum you will see the Golden man, well known not only in the Kazakh steppe but also in all Central Asia.

      Lunch at the local restaurant.

      Visit Bayterek, symbol of Astana.

      Visit Temple of Peace and Accord- pyramidal building of the Palace of peace and Accord built by the project of a prominent British architect, Norman Foster, became the genuine decoration of the new capital of Kazakhstan.

      Visit Nur-Astana mosque. The fantastic outline of the left bank of Astana, since 22 March,   2005, has become the peculiar frame of a new capital point of interest – the Central Mosque «Nur-Astana».

      Visit ALZHIR (30 km from Astana). It’s an Akmola camp for wives of traitors of Motherland – one of the largest camps of Soviet Union and one of the three “islands” of the “Gulag Archipelago”. The camp was opened in the beginning of 1938, when it received the first stages of the prisoners – mostly members of families of traitors. According to incomplete data, the number of repressed exceeded 18,000 convicts

Day 4 Astana – Burabay

      7. 00 Breakfast in hotel.

      Transfer to Burabay.

      Burabay – is a "Kazakhstan’s Switzerland". Burabay resort for its beauty, abundance of lakes, flora and fauna has been named as the "Pearl of Kazakhstan". Excellent mud baths, sanatoriums equipped according to the latest technologies- everything here is prepared to improve your health and mood.

      Excursion to Zhumbaktas, Okzhetpes and Burabay lake.

      Zhumbaktas legend. In the northern part of the lake Borovoe (Auliekol) between spurs and Kokshe Temirtau there is a bay. In the middle of the bay are weathered granite formations. This rock is Zhumbaktas (Stone - riddle) reminiscent of a mysterious Sphinx with frozen impassive features, or pensive young man with a shock of hair growing in the wind. This rock has own legend, when you will visit it, guide will tell you a beautiful legend about it.Okzhetpes is a mountain, which is translated as “it could not be reached by arrow”.Drive back to Astana.Have a lunch in local restaurant.

Day 5 Shymkent – Sauran – Turkestan

      Early check out. Lunch box breakfast take away. Meeting with driver.

      Transfer to the airport.

      10.00 arrival in Shymkent.

      On the way you will see: the Museum in village Shaulder; ruins of the Otrar (Otyrar is widely known as the capital of the  province, the birthplace of the great medieval philosopher Abu Nasr al-Farabi. The appearance of settlement on the former location of Otyrar refers to the first centuries of our era. First name Otyrar and Farab appear in written sources in the IX

      century of our century. The period of X-XII centuries was the time of prosperity of urban life, which was broken by the Mongol invasion. In 1219 Otyrar fell under the onslaught of the army of Chinghis Khan. However Otyrar rose from the ruins and by

      the middle of XIII century has become a major trading hub on the way from West to East. In 1405 in one of the palaces of Otyrar dies Tamerlan. The life of Otyrar continues

      until the XVIII century. The appearance of the settlement as a whole is characteristic  for most of the medieval monuments of Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

      The Mausoleum of Arystan-bab of 12 centuries - one of Muslim shrines of Central Asia also is a pilgrimage place.

Day 6 Turkestan- Shymkent – Almaty

      Excursion on architectural complex Mausoleum  H.A.YASSAVI (XIV age(This amazing erection was builded in honour of a famous famous Turkic poet and Sufi mystic, Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. The word “Yassawi” originates from “Yassy”. That was the ancient name of Turkestan. The whole city is a historical and cultural reservation of Khazret Sultan. Except the Mausoleum of Khoja Akhmet Yassawy, there are medieval bath houses and khilvet, where the great Saint was living, the mausoleum of great-granddaughter of Timur): underground mosque, east bath, history museum, walk on fragment of the citadels battlement dinner
